Need to run alsaconf for sound on every reboot -- why?
With a recent upgrade, my sound stopped working on reboot. Running
alsaconf fixes it every time, but it doesn't "stick" across reboots.
There are no errors when the sound doesn't work--I just can't hear
anything. The volume is turned up, and nothing is muted. The proper
modules are loaded--in fact, the same modules are reloaded by alsaconf.
Actually, I can achieve the same effect (fixing the sound) by removing
the modules and reloading them, and then turning the mixer back up.
The two modules are snd_intel8x0 and snd_ac97_codec.
Does this sound familiar? Any hints?
