A little apt help

With the (relatively) recent updates to rsync on SID, I'm getting the
message "filter rules are too modern for remote rsync". As I don't have
the ability to update rsync on my clients systems, I'm going to have to
downgrade my rsync.

I've never had to downgrade versions before. What is the syntax for
that? Is there a way to "pin" a version so that apt doesn't try to
upgrade it next time?
