I am running a 2.6.11.7 kernel and MY NTFS is ro :)

AFAIK the r/w for NTFS only works to replace data in existing files but these cannot grow in size and maybe cannot even be created. Am I wrong ?

The NTFS support in Linux-2.6 is very limited (because Microsoft doesn't disclose the technical bits about how NTFS works). Specifically, it does not support these operations:

    * Creating/deleting files
    * Growing/shrinking files

It only allows writing over existing files.
