I've seen this discussion coming up on other higher volume lists too
lately. Looks like some people don't really recognize the advantages
of mailing lists resp. news groups anymore, maybe because of broken
Windows clients, maybe because there's a tendency to focus onto a
single interface, like a web browser, just to avoid the effort to
properly get acquainted with others.

Either way, I too can't understand people who prefer web forums over
mailing lists. Especially when they are searchable either by site
specific googling or, as in this case, even by google groups since
Debian lists are mirrored into usenet.
