There is a php4 binary in Woody, but it does not produce the expected result
when used from the command line. Apparently php4-cli was only available
after php 4.3.
I've had some good suggestions from this and the php NG that I'll try on a
"non-production" machine.
One other question - is it possible to compile and install php-cli from
source in (eg.) /usr/local/php? - without affecting the rest of my
installation?
