I'm really not trying to be a wise-ass, but why don't you just try what
dpkg tells you to do and "reinstall it before attempting a removal."?
That requires you to still have the initial .deb you installed from of
course, which I hope. OTOH make-jpkg should create absolutely identical
packages if used with the same upstream source I guess.
