standard problem ...

- if the hd and dvd is using the same cable.. you've got problems

- usually just bad cable, bad mix of drive to the same cable, etc, etc 

- try turning off dma on the dvd port, lets say dvd is the /dev/hdc
	hdparm -d0 /dev/hdc
