New kernel trashed the audio!
Hello!
A month ago or something like that? I compiled 2.6.10 and I managed
to get it to boot the system. But after this I have a few problems, and
I'm considering to reformat the harddrive and starting from scratch,
because I'm not making any progress here.
These are my problems:
1. The sound don't work anymore (alsaconf can't find my soundcard)
2. No usb support - despite having usb support in the kernel
3. No networking support - despite having networking support in the kernel
4. No 3D acceleration because the drivers from ATi is useless - dont work!
I'm considering switching to Suse instead, because the Debian pre kernels
have a lacking support for my hardware and I find it very difficult to compile
my own kernel. Last year I compiled 2.6.5 together with Debian woody,
worked PERFECT! I was happy! But then I decided to reformat my harddrive
and install Sarge. Sarge feels better and more modern than Woody but as
I said, I'm having problems.
Perhaps I just should download 2.6.5 instead? But I'm not sure that my
new lasermouse MX 1000 from Logitech will work. :-/
Btw. my new system don't have a dsp device in /dev, is that normal?
