X-system hardware troubleshoot for i810 onboard
Hello and thank you for reading my post,
I have a i810 (Intel onboard graphics card for my HP Pavillion 8650C)
and am curious why I do not have direct rendering (glxinfo | grep
direct gives no) for this hardware. Note that I have been able to have
direct rendering with this setup on previous Linux systems before.
My guess is that the XFree86 that Debian "testing" has has i810 that
are older and do not support my particular hardware setup.
Once again I say that I have had direct rendering on my hardware setup
up on other Linux distributions( probably on Gentoo, and definately on
Mandrake 10.0 Official, either out of the box a few times or with some
tweaking).
If the problem is simply that the XFree86 has old i810 support that
has been updated in newer versions of XFree86 or in Xorg, I suppose I
will wait till at least after Sarge for incorporation of this hardware
support by the X server in Debian. If there is another reason for
this, please suggest what I should do.
Your loveable,
