| Hi Jonathan (keep on bottom posting .. I am flexible 8->)
| thank you for helping.

People get yelled at for top posting so I bottom post. :-)
| I have two questions/infos:
|
| 1) my gxine installation appears to have the realmedia codecs since I
| can play .rm files out of firefox or in plain URLS.
My experience was that gxine and realplayer compete and that realplayer
seems to work and the gxine version doesn't or doesn't always for
certain kinds of files.
|
| 2) On the above page I get the "plugin missing"
|
| Why this difference ?
|
| If I navigate and install the Linux version of the realplyer, what will
| it scatter around my carefully mantained system ? I hate installing non
| .deb objects ?? :(
|
You can scatter objects where you want. The files in question are
nphelix.so and nphelix.xpt and you can put them wherever you want.
The install instructions tell you where to put them. For an individual
user they go in ~/.mozilla/plugins also in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ (I
thinks that's for a system-wide approach).
