I am wondering if maybe X or gdm ignore the ENV_PATH specification. -RobertoFor individual users, you set the PATH in their home directories: ~/.bash_profile for text mode, ~/.bashrc for Xterms. Ditto for root (/root/.bash_profile and /root/.bashrc). This will override the settings in /etc/profile. regards, Robert
The problem is that when I run Mozilla from the menu in wmaker, it ignores all of those specifications. I have /opt/bin added in both /etc/login.defs and /etc/profile. When I 'echo $PATH' either as root or as a regular user I get /opt/bin in there. However, if I have linked acroread only into /opt/bin, the plugin fails in Mozilla and Firefox. If I relink it /usr/local/bin, then it works fine. The problem is that Mozilla is not obeying the PATH as specified by the system. I have tried looking in the various prefs.js files and in about:config, but there is nothing which indicates that Mozilla has its own ideas as to what the path is. Another possibility is that X, GDM, and/or WindowMaker are ignoring the PATH specificed in /etc/profile and /etc/login.defs. -Roberto -- Roberto C. Sanchez http://familiasanchez.net/~sanchezr
