Hm, don't know what may have caused this. Maybe some default
configuration files have changed, and suddenly a LC_ variable
was introduced, overriding your LANG choice...

Hm, either you've made a typo in the mail, or it works with LANG only. :)
It's LC_CTYPE, not LC_TYPE (cf manpages locale(1) and, for more in-depth
information, locale(5)). But as it works... ;)

Hm, maybe vim chooses its keymapping according to LANG and LC_*, too.
Didn't know that before.
