Please learn about the legends you try to invoke.  Godwin's Law states 
that as the length of a discussion increases, the odds of Hitler, 
Nazis, et al. being mentioned approaches 1:1.  Threads typically die 
down after the criteria of Godwin's Law is met, though deliberately 
trying to kill a thread in such a manner usually guarantees it's 
longevity.

I would strongly suggest using gnus, KMail or similarly full-featured 
MUAs for reading high volumes of mail.  Such MUAs have facilities for 
thread management, such as ignore and watch.
