At the risk of getting 'right up your nose'.... if it were installed
correctly the fscking thing would be working ;)
But (sigh) printing can be extremely frustrating. When you say
everything is installed correctly which packages did you install and did
you follow the Cups Printing Howto?
I'm assuming this is stand alone PC with a USB connection
If we have some details, someone may be able to point you in the right
direction.
I too have been at this point (more often than I care to admit).
