apt-listchanges refuses to work

hi everyone
i have seen in a recent thread (How stable is SID) a tool was new to me:
apt-listchanges.
i apt-got it. and the next time i upgraded my sarge:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/apt-listchanges", line 30, in ?
    import apt_pkg
ImportError: No module named apt_pkg

any ideas?
