Re: question on hotplug/udev

1. Type the command "pilot-xfer -l -p /dev/ttyUSB1" (don't press return
yet)
2. Press hotsync
3. Press return on your pilot-xfer command and you should see a list of
the databases that are on your Palm.
4. If it doesn't work, try /dev/ttyUSB0 instead.
Dave,
thanks-a-ton for trying to help.
Well I must be in an abnormal situation.
I tried the pilot-xfer command followed by the Palm hotsync but it never
succeeded. BTW the -p option is not recognized if used as a second arg :(
Look at the LONGISH /var/log/messages and you will see I have hot some
kernel problem.
My environment is a 2.6.11-rc4 with a few patches and all updated sid
packages (bob@t40:~/tmp$ dpkg -l |grep pilot
ii gnome-pilot 2.0.12-1.1 A GNOME applet for management of your
Palm P
ii gnome-pilot-co 2.0.12-2 conduits for gnome-pilot
ii jpilot 0.99.7-0.99.8- graphical app. to modify the contents
of you
ii jpilot-backup 0.51-1 Backup plugin for J-Pilot
ii jpilot-plugins 0.99.7-0.99.8- plugins for jpilot (Palm Pilot desktop)
ii libgnome-pilot 2.0.12-1.1 Support libraries for gnome-pilot
ii libpda-pilot-p 0.11.8-10 Perl module to communicate with a
PalmOS PDA
ii pilot-link 0.11.8-10 Tools to communicate with a PalmOS PDA
As a side note, experiments with JPilot showed that is the only
application so far that almost freezes my whole Linux system (to be more
precise I cannot enter any char from the keyboard with GUI remaining
responsive to mouse events)
Take care,
Bob
