KDE non-installation, then kdm brings up metacity & nautilus
Greetings all,
I have installed sarge on a couple of different machines lately. In
both cases the install process didn't install KDE (which is what I
wanted; no choice as in woody. Has anyone else encountered this? or
is it something weird I've done?
Later on, using dselect, I installed a lot of missing packages,
including kde and lots of dependencies. The installation process
allowed me to select which desktop manager I would like to use and
I selected kdm. Upon reboot, kdm actually comes up, but when
logging in, the gnome desktop (metacity and nautilus, plus gnome
terminal) appears. This is not, I dare say, what I was expecting.
I have tried dpkg-reconfugure kdm AND dpkg-reconfigure gdm but still
the gnome pops up...
So... Is this a known problem? (I didn't see anything related to
this while searching the bug reports) Does anyone have a solution
to bring back KDE under sarge? (updated to the very latest a few minutes
ago).
Thanks for any help/hints.
A.
