frist, ext3 has ACLs: just put this in the mount options: user_xattr,acl

you have a desktop system with one harddisk?

take ext3. ext3 is reliable, and doesn't hickup when there is a badblock
. XFS, ReiserFS, etc are high end journaling systems, they all are good,
but they are designed to run on raid, where you don't see HW errors
because the raid below handles them.

If you say you have a server, then you can use all those (depeding on
what the partition is used I'd recommend xfs or reiser).

ext3 und xfs are the best at the moment, they have
- - acls
- - quota

reiserfs (at least on 2.6.8 kernels) doesn't have quota. Furthermore I
wouldn't put reiser on any externl/etc hd. all those should be ext3
(Because it allows more damage than others without getting broken).
