You can find more info about the new debian-installer (which as sarge/testing and sid is still in development) on http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer, reading the manual (available at http://d-i.alioth.debian.org/manual/) also helps a lot and in the wiki-faq (linked from http://wiki.debian.net/index.cgi?DebianInstaller) you'll find your question about using d-i as a rescue system answered as well. regards, Holger
