Because I am on a dialup line, listening to KUSC and using the internet for other purposes tends to spoil the listening.
So I have the rig boot itself at 2AM and start mplayer and record 3 hours of music. Then I can just listen to the file during the day. Most often that works OK except when mplayer quits on "Can't sync MAD frame" which I have no idea on how to tell him to just forget about it and go on ;-)
