Both Debian and Ubuntu have both .debs and .udebs, and the name .udeb
existed three-and-a-half years before Ubuntu did. .udebs are
non-policy-compliant packages used as debian-installer components. The
"u" is an ASCII representation of the Greek "mu", often used as an
abbreviation for "micro".
