Evolution not offering applications to open files (psr)

Hi list.

I'm having some trouble with evolution at the moment. In the past, when
there was an email attachment, I could click on the little arrow by the
icon and it would offer to open the attachment in a variety of
associated applications, e.g. a .xls had gnumeric and OOo Calc. However,
recently these options have gone and all I'm left with is "Save As". 

It's not a big deal, I can just save the file and manually open it, but
I do miss the convenience of how it was working before. I'm assuming
that there is a file somewhere with these file associations in it. They
are correctly set up in KDE but then Evolution isn't a KDE app so I
assume there is something somewhere else. Could someone please point me
towards the file I need to look at to sort this out? I'm using
Debian/Sid/KDE (i386).
