You *totally* missed the point.  Please read below.

The point is that guilt-ridden liberals have canonized aboriginal
North Americans.

Then, when said aboriginals go and do something "European" (i.e., 
try to bulldoze a wildlife preserve and make lots of money) instead
of worshiping the trees and shed a tear at pollution* like they are
"supposed to", it just strikes me as very ironic and thus amusing.

* Remember that commercial from the 1970s?  Very sentimental.  
Very "I am an Indian, I am pure in spirit, I would never do this,
you Evil White People."
