Thanks for replying. I did "gpg --gen-key" and still it failed. Then I
applied the advice I got on debian-powerpc(Thanks to Vincent Bernat) and
ran "debuild -us -uc" instead of just "debuild" and it completed
flawlessly. I don't know why but it did the trick. Now I have cloned the
screen successfully. Thanks.
