Re: no konsole text with kernel 2.6.8

Hi,

Thank cga2001 and Ron,

I notice the blank screen (with vertical lines) occurs after the line :
"Calculating modules dependencies" during the boot process ...
I use vga=ask in lilo.conf but this change only affect the text mode before
the switch (blank screen) after "Calculating modules dependencies"
And yes, i get the file /boot/config-2.6.9-1-k7 from
kernel-image-2.6.9-1-k7

Thanks.

Guy

I use debian sid with kernel 2.4.27 on amd duron 1300 (k7s5a) and a matrox G400 (without TV)

I have installed kernel-image-2.6.9-1-k7 and all is fine.

I want to tune this kernel image so i downloaded and
install (make-dpkg & dpkg -i) kernel-source-2.6.9 with config-2.6.9-1-k7 (first, without any changes). During the boot process of this new kernel i loose console text (when loading some framebuffer module ?). I get a blank screen with vertical lines on consoles text. After some times, the x windows (kde) then appears, fine...
But consoles text stays blanks with verticals lines (Alt F1 - F6) !
Nothing in logs ...

So i have tried to install kernel-image-2.6.8-1-k7 : again no console text (blank - vertical lines) but kde is ok !

I try to replace vesafb.c in kernel source (http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2004/12/msg00333.html)
but without succes ....
