Make sure you read (and understand) the available documentation, ie. the Debian New Maintainers' Guide <http://www.debian.org/doc/maint-guide/>, the Developer's Reference <http://www.debian.org/doc/developers-reference/> and the Debian Policy Manual <http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/>. The last doc is especially important if you really want to have your package included in Debian. There is also a list for newbie (Debian) developers/maintainers at <http://lists.debian.org/debian-mentors/>, but make sure to read the FAQ mentioned there. Debian has set a pretty high standard for package inclusion, so be prepared to stumble once or twice, but it's entirely doable. HTH, Flo
