RE: RE: applications on gnome don't start.



The problem was with my iptables rules. I used to forget to open the
loopback interface for the applications querying the loopback interface.
They used to wait on the lo interface.

I don't think that this is got some thing to do with the applications. I
think there is some thing with the environment. Some of the X
applications seem to work in the end, only that they take a long time to
start as well as move from one click to the other. They just freeze of
10 minutes. Even when I select the logout button of the gnome, its gets
stuck for 10 minutes. This all is abnormal.

you are new to linux?

1 Some applications need to be configured. Without doing that, you can't
use them.

2 Go to  /usr/share/doc  search the name of application which doesn't
work.  read files READEME, NEWS or someting.

3 Search by Google, website of applis that don't work. Go to there, and
search HOWTOs and read them.
