assuming that host  cronon.org and host w.x.y.z  is working 
for all permutations of names and for ip# and also with nslookup

	- these ip# and hostanames should NOT be in /etc/hosts
	and if you do it that way, you have to copy that host files
	to all machines or simply setup dns w/ reverse lookups

	- for sending/receiving email, you should NOT use cname, and use
	only "A" records

and more likely ...
	what is the contents of /etc/mail/sendmail.cw 
	( aka local-host-names )

	and the rest of the files
	( access, relay-domains, generics, virtusertable ... )

for examples of what it should be:
	Linux-Sec.net/Mail/etc.mail
	Linux-Sec.net/Mail/Sendmail-Install-HOWTO/
