the ntp.conf file shoulda looked like what i posted ...
- yu had too much gneric stuff in there that is NOT needed
and what i consider the important stuff ( like logging ) was
"missing"

people have different ideas of what is better and why

good sequence for restarts

some might say that, others might say use chrony,
other say just use ntpdate
and if you power up and down all the time, some might laugh at
using ntpd :-)

huh ??
your laptop is typically a ntp client... you ned to have it point
to your isp's NTP server or a ntp server in your neck of the woods

good

bad .. its zero

good ... statum 1, statum 2 is a bad server to be using
but until they disallow your connection, guess its not bothering them
too much, andif you're the proper type a guy, you'd send them a note
that you're ntp'ng off their server ( mention which ones )

the ones that is non-zero data will be happy for a while

you only need to know what is your ntp server to the outside
and all your other internal pc's should use your ONE ntp server
