Re: ntp server

On restarting the ntp server on my server, with the above line in
ntp.conf, I get the following in /var/log/xntpd:
24 Jun 16:09:08 ntpd[6593]: configure: keyword "authenticate" unknown,
line ignored
24 Jun 16:09:08 ntpd[6593]: system event 'event_restart' (0x01) status
'sync_alarm, sync_unspec, 1 event, event_unspec' (0xc010)
24 Jun 16:09:12 ntpd[6593]: peer LOCAL(0) event 'event_reach' (0x84)
status 'unreach, conf, 1 event, event_reach' (0x8014)
24 Jun 16:12:24 ntpd[6593]: system event 'event_peer/strat_chg' (0x04)
status 'sync_alarm, sync_local_proto, 2 events, event_restart' (0xc521)
24 Jun 16:12:24 ntpd[6593]: synchronized to LOCAL(0), stratum 10
24 Jun 16:12:24 ntpd[6593]: kernel time sync disabled 0041
24 Jun 16:12:24 ntpd[6593]: system event 'event_sync_chg' (0x03) status
'leap_none, sync_local_proto, 3 events, event_peer/strat_chg' (0x534)
24 Jun 16:12:24 ntpd[6593]: system event 'event_peer/strat_chg' (0x04)
status 'leap_none, sync_local_proto, 4 events, event_sync_chg' (0x543)
24 Jun 16:13:30 ntpd[6593]: kernel time sync enabled 0001
The first line seems to imply that the line for "keyword" is ignored.
Perhaps I don't have the right version installed?:

Are the cron config lines appropriate??
I think I'll leave them both on overnight and see what's happening
tomorrow morning.
