Not exactly what you asked for but there are symbol fonts in the 75dpi
and 100dpi font packages (adobe-symbol). Symbol.ttf (the microsoft file)
kept crashing xfontsel and blocked any other program from using symbol
fonts (matlab wouldn't recognize the adobe-symbol fonts until I through
out symbol.ttf)

Thats with the windows XP version, win2K may work, don't know.
