2.4 Kernel and SCSI controller

I want to install the stable release of Debian, but with the 2.4 kernel.  When I try it, my SCSI drive isn't found.  I can use the compact version, but then of course I get the 2.2 kernel.  Any suggestions on how I can get 2.4 and SCSI support?  I'm using a NCR (SYMBIOS/LSI Logic) 53C825 host adapter and Seagate 18GB drive.

Thanks for any help.
