A page I saw yesterday (which has now dissappeared) suggested adding the

I am working from memory, as I went wired when I started serving web pages,
your vend / prod is being identified but have you added at76c503.rfmd
to /etc/modules. That seems like the one that dmesg reported as claiming
my device.
Ron
No, but then again "usbfu" isn't in /etc/modules either. That file
seems to be drivers that are loaded at boot time, which isn't
necessarily what I want; I just want them to be loaded when I plug it in.

There must surely be a table that translates these numeric codes into
the right driver to load - anyone got any idea where it is?

Cheers,

Jon
