I'm using the word "AFFect" (not "affECT") in the sense
of definition 2
from dictionary.com:

   1. To put on a false show of; simulate: affected a British accent.

An AFFect (noun) is "Feeling or emotion, especially as manifested by
facial expression or body language"; to AFFect (verb) is to "copy or
imitate".

To afFECT is to influence; to effect is to bring into existence.

The first syllable of AFFect ryhmes with cat. The first syllable of
afFECT rhymes with cut.

This is how the bible gets misinterpreted :-)
