1. use a firewall (choose one ONLY designed for the purpose to be a firewall like e.g. ipcop (based on smoothwall))

2. use winSCP which is working over ssh and can be installed on windoze

3. make sure to use ipcops remote maintainance ports to limit the connections only to the boxes you'D like to connect

(I like ipcop, I use it myself and it's superb! and free :-)
