I can go for days at a time without spam in my email, why can't I do
it with the postal service? Further more, why am I penalized with a
higher postage rate for not spamming?

Yes, but they give you a timeframe, and they'll hit it, and they'll do
it cheaper than the USPS and with less backtalk. They say that mail
from downtown is same-day in downtown if mailed in the morning,
next-day elsewhere in-town, and third-day from southern California.
In reality, it's highly variable, taking 10 to 14 days in-town, 20 or
more from elsewhere, randomly and without following any real pattern.
And just try to get a straight answer out of the surly clerks they
have...

Explain, when jigdo exists. You can make your own CD set.
