Re: installation kde, USB

Hi folks,
Got X-Window working. Want to use kde but doesn't know how to start
it. It's 'help manual' mentioned about simply replacing 'startx' with
'startkde' in the file .xinitrc. There's a 'xinitrc' file in /etc/X11
but there's no 'startx' in it. Where to look for it?
Create an .xinitrc in your home directory (not in /etc/X11), and put the
single line in it:
startkde
Then start X with the command "startx".
USB modem is yet to be set-up. Yes, I am using 'compact stable'. The
installation option only offers ttyS ports. Is USB not supported?
(You should probably break multiple topics into multiple threads.)
Yes, USB is supported, depending. Lots of magic involved. More info
needed. What kernel? What modem? What modules are installed (lsmod)?
What app are you referring to when you say "the installation option"?
