This is probably what it should do: remount readonly on errors.

Found the error again, remounted even before mount returned.

Something like that.  The short term $0.01 is to reboot singleuser, run
badblocks, and adjust the /etc/fstab line to `errors=continue'.  This is
what I did few weeks ago.  There are surely better ways but this kinda
works. 

Don't trust the disk much from now on--if you have valuable data,
relocate them.
