I tried follows;
# append="hdc=ide-scsi" /etc/lilo.conf
-su: /etc/lilo.conf: Permission denied

# ls -al /etc/lilo.conf
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root          112 Dec 17 05:39 /etc/lilo.conf
