Bandwidth is complicated
1 Mbit/sec = 1024000 bits/second (at least for some kinds of link). This is
because some links (at least ISDN in europe) are built from 64000
bit/sec links (at least logically), and 16 or 32 of them is a convenient often
used unit. This makes 1024000 or 2048000 bits/sec or 1 or 2 Mbit/s. I
don't know if this is true for all kinds of link, but...
(And no, this is not made up by marketing people)
