you can use the onboard raid port as plain ole ide ...
just plug in a cable and see , dont forget to eanbel the bios
to look for "raid devices" but turn off the whacky raid bios firmware

there is only one mb that has 3 standard ide connectors( channels )
( 6 drives total )
- its a $500(?) tyan motherboard - not a mb for home use per se
-- ide controllers are $5 or $50 .. just go looking
