That sounds something on the order of my system. What version of X do
you run on it? I have xfree v4.2.1 on my testing system, but have been
running xserver-s3 V3.3.6. I tried to upgrade to xserver-xfree86 but
can only get a black screen. No fatal errors in the log. After a few
seconds, the monitor goes into "Power Saving" mode. Either the monitor
is shutting down for its own protection or the card is shutting down.
It all comes back up after I go back to a text screen. It really
appears that my chipset is supposed to be supported, but I dunno. It
also looks like I am trying to use the same video modes on it as I am on
v3.3.6...
