Strange. You mean that option

pty "/usr/sbin/pptp 10.0.0.138 --nolaunchpppd"

does not work for you? What debian release do you use? Did you just
remove the --nolaunchpppd option?

shorewall is an official debian package. You can simply install it via
following command:

# apt-get install shorewall
