Since you are adding new hardware it is okay to reboot.  :-)  But
alternatively just load the module.

  modprobe tulip

Yet another option, run modconf and select tulip.  It will
automatically modprobe for you and if successful automatically add it
to /etc/modules.

  modconf

Page down to "kernel/drivers/net/tulip" and select it.
