If lilo don't work for you and grub will, do the Debian install, make a boot floppy boot of the boot floppy and then install grub from the debs. grub is a great boot loader, but lilo has always worked for me. I think I have always put it on the mbr though even though / or /boot has been in all sorts of places. Sven
