Now, what if it does report success but still doesn't work:

$ cat /proc/scsi/scsi
Attached devices:
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
  Vendor: SAMSUNG  Model: CDRW/DVD SN-324B Rev: U102
  Type:   CD-ROM                           ANSI SCSI revision: 02

But:

$ mount /dev/scd0 /cdrom
mount: /dev/scd0 is not a valid block device

Also, do I need the ide-cd module loaded to make ide-scsi work?
