As add on: I was starting to doubt myself. So I took the same, original 3.0r1 and threw it into another, old machine (AMD400, PS/2-mouse). Everything okay, X, mouse, you name it. Piece of cake. Now I will install from scratch on that other machine, delete all work so far, everything documented and plain vanilla. Keep you updated, Uwe
