RE: No Screens found
Now we're heading straight for a bug (strange, on an 'old' system like
woody).
Fresh install from 3.0r1, basic, just X. No ftp, no updates; everything
from CDROM. Mouse driver and uhci (USB) activated.
startx crashes just like last week on me.
apt-get install x-window-system-core comes ok (nothing to install)
apt-get install x-window-system comes ok (nothing to install)
apt-get install --reinstall x-window-system comes with x-window-system
to be installed; and done. Still crashes on me.
dpkg-reconfigure (--priority=low --frontend=dialog) xserver-xfree86
doesn't solve it.
framebuffer on or off doesn't solve it.
If anyone wants the whole bunch (log, XF86Config / -4), whatever, please
contact me. Tried ati and r128, yes, b.t.w.
I deconfigured RedHat 8 (on just another partition) completely and put
the card back: No trouble finding the card, setting all settings and
running automagically (yes, there had been another card in the meantime
== really deconfigured !!).
Now I'm lost. Seems I have to stick with RedHat.
