Hi,

I have a logitech quickcam web and I use this:

qce-source - source code for QuickCam Express kernel module

of course, you must be using a kernel with video4linux and usb support 
(a stock kernel has support for all those modules) to use the webcam. 
(and the mic doesn't function, but I've never used it anyways!) and all 
is well.

to take snaps I use a tiny little command line program (in development) 
http://sourceforge.net/projects/clcam and but I don't use montion 
detection, so I just set a timer and snap away.

The qcam package that debian has appears (i could be wrong?) to only 
support parallel port cams.

As for that motion censor app, it appears that it's for capture cards 
and not webcams.  at least, it attempts to load the bttv module, so 
that's what it appears to be to me.

Although, being open source maybe someone can modify it to use a usb 
webcam (oh joy! c'mon, someone? :))
