> Is there any difference between the LC-CTYPE on the machines in > question (I am just parroting the bug report banter here)? > /end wild stab No, they are both at de_DE.ISO-8859-15, and fishbowl:~> ls -la /usr/lib/locale/de_DE.ISO-8859-15/LC_CTYPE -rw-r--r-- 2 root root 207996 2003-04-24 01:15 /usr/lib/locale/de_DE.ISO-8859-15/LC_CTYPE To follow up on the bug, I cannot make the characters work in an aterm started from an aterm. I start wmaker from .xsession after xdm logs me into X -- on both machines. For completeness: piper:~> locale LANG=en_GB.ISO-8859-15 LC_CTYPE=de_DE.ISO-8859-15 LC_NUMERIC=de_DE.ISO-8859-15 LC_TIME=en_GB.ISO-8859-15 LC_COLLATE=POSIX LC_MONETARY=de_DE.ISO-8859-15 LC_MESSAGES=en_GB.ISO-8859-15 LC_PAPER=de_DE.ISO-8859-15 LC_NAME=de_DE.ISO-8859-15 LC_ADDRESS=de_DE.ISO-8859-15 LC_TELEPHONE=de_DE.ISO-8859-15 LC_MEASUREMENT=de_DE.ISO-8859-15 LC_IDENTIFICATION=de_DE.ISO-8859-15 LC_ALL= And this works just fine, all the locales are generated, and it's the same on both machines. -- Please do not CC me when replying to lists; I read them! .''`. martin f. krafft <madduck@debian.org> : :' : proud Debian developer, admin, and user `. `'` `- Debian - when you have better things to do than fixing a system Invalid/expired PGP subkeys?
